As an organization, we have been fortunate to establish relationships with gracious and supportive community partners who have hosted our camp in their spaces each year. This year’s camp was supposed to be at Midlands Arts Conservatory (MAC). However, as I’m sure many of you are aware, MAC unexpectedly closed earlier this month and is unable to host our program this summer. Since their announcement, we have worked tirelessly to secure another venue to host camp. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a suitable replacement that meets our camp’s needs.
We know that y’all are as heartbroken over this news as we are.
We pride ourselves in being an organization that facilitates space for the youth of Columbia to feel safe and brave, to be included and to include, to make music and friendships and art that empowers and uplifts them.
That’s not changing.
We’re a resilient bunch and we’re already working on securing a host venue for next summer. Furthermore, we’re doubling down on our mission and continuing to be a place in our community where Columbia girls and transgender and nonbinary youth amplify their voices.
With love, glitter, and solidarity,
Girls Rock Columbia
